Narcissistic Abuse in Maternal Health Care is a major problem. I would even dare to say that it is at the root of our continually rising maternal mortality rate.
Unless you really understand it, you'll be baffled that anyone actually might behave this way. And until you know understand how it plays out in the health care setting, you might also be tricked and manipulated into the subtle and often covert coercion that happens daily to pregnant and birthing families.
Ever been working with a client and wondered why something that someone did or said felt really wrong, but you couldn't put your finger on why, exactly? Did your client fold under pressure? Does your otherwise strong, independent, intelligent client seem confused and scared every time she leaves a prenatal appointment?
There may be a subtle manipulation technique at play - used by narcissists. In this session, we work through the many traits and behaviors from the "Narcissist Playbook" and we look at them from a Maternity Care lens. The way this plays out in medical care is fascinating, disturbing and often times very disempowering. But it doesn't have to be this way!
Please watch this recorded session and utilize the accompanying e-book and visuals to help you understand what is really going on behind the scenes with these types of care providers...
And if you feel like you have been experiencing narcissistic abuse within a relationship yourself, please reach out. We know it can be confusing and scary, but we are here to support you. It is not your fault, and there is hope.
