I am reaching out today with an exciting professional development opportunity!
Ilihia Maternity Care will be facilitating an 18 month Doula Training Cohort.
When: Beginning in February 2026 through September 2027
Where: Bi-monthly meetings via Zoom
3-day hands-on doula training retreat in April, 2026
2 specialized training sessions (location TBA):
-Trauma Informed Care & Cultural Sensitivity
Who: Individuals who are currently or may in the future be working with our marginalized communities.
- Community Health Workers
- Nurses
- Peer Support
- RSC's
- Parent Partners
- Anyone with a heart to serve this population
WHY: The heart of Ilihia Maternity Care is to support our most vulnerable mothers in the community. Women, in the perinatal period, who have experienced or may be currently experiencing substance use disorders and/or any other socioeconomic hardships. Emotional, mental, and physical support is a necessity for us all. However, these families are prone to a lack of connection to resources, and the type of care that each of them deserve.
Cost: The cost is $2000. However, we do have limited scholarship availability for qualified candidates. We will be able to offer a 70% discounted rate for those who qualify. Plus the majority of the books that we will be using for curriculum will be available FREE through a book share program.
Gains: 3 Specific Certifications plus Advanced Skills and Specialized Trainings
- Certified Labor Doula (CLD)
- Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD)
- Certified Lactation Support Educator (CLSE)
- Epidoula: Advanced Skills Epidural Support
- Specialized Training in Trauma Informed Care
- Specialized Training in Cultural Sensitivity
Goals: The target outcome of this cohort is to create a workforce of doulas equipped with the knowledge and skill to serve Hawaii's at-risk populations. With consistent mentorship throughout the training period and beyond, you or your employees will be able to apply new competencies and continue to serve this community with compassion.
